Nov 23, 2018

There’s been a sharp rise in the number of young people in Somerset who self-harm.
A report to Somerset County Council says 1-in-4 school age girls self-harm to cope with stressful situations.
1-in-5 boys also self-harm for the same reasons.
Self-harming includes cutting, taking non-lethal overdoses, scratching and picking skin.
Young people are thought to self-harm to communicate problems they found difficult to put into words.
Somerset has the fourth highest rate of hospital admissions in the UK for young people self-harming, according to the report.
