Leonardo Helicopters in Yeovil says a number of its staff have tested positive for coronavirus. The company says they’re self-isolating, including those employees who were in close contact with them. Meanwhile, the Cookson’s Court Care Home in Yeovil says several of its staff and residents have tested positive with the virus.

A Yeovil woman has appeared in court charged with drug driving. Aleksandra Kotwica of Marl Close pleaded guilty to the offence and was given a 3-year driving ban

Health bosses are looking into creating one single NHS provider trust for Somerset. Yeovil District Hospital Foundation Trust and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust have agreed to develop a strategic case to merge the two organisations. The move would also bring together mental health services along with learning disability, community and acute hospital services.

South Somerset District has given a grant of 12 and a half thousand pounds towards improving the playing fields in the village of Horton near Ilminster. The Parish Council there says the money will be used to buy new play equipment, to put in new paths and build a sports wall. The total cost of the project is 32 thousand pounds.

Hinkley Point B nuclear power station in Somerset is to stop generating electricity for good in July 2022. The site has been in operation since 1976 - and its lifetime had already been extended by several years.
