‘Poppy of Honour’ repaired after vandal attack

‘Poppy of Honour’ repaired after vandal attack

Oct 29, 2018

Wincanton’s giant ‘Poppy of Honour’ has been fully repaired after being damaged by vandals.

The memorial - specially created to mark the 100th anniversary of World War One - was attacked just days after being unveiled. The ‘Poppy of Honour’ contains the handwritten names of more than one million men and women who went missing or were killed during the Great War 1914-18.

A business in Exeter has carried out the repairs and the memorial will begin a tour of Somerset towns mid November.

The giant ‘Poppy' will visit:

Ilminster 15th November

Chard on 16th

Crewkerne on 17th

Langport on 18th

Yeovil 19th November
