Police have been criticized over their handling of a burglary at a building site at Buckland St Mary, near Chard.
Local man, Anthony Norton, was part-way through building a new house when the thieves struck, taking a large diesel cement mixer, 50 litres of diesel, torches, clothing and fire extinguishers.
But when Mr Norton reported the theft, the Police told him they would not be investigating nor would they be visiting the crime scene.
He says he’s now considering lodging an official complaint with the Avon and Somerset Chief Constable.
A police spokesman says ‘due to there being no obvious lines of enquiry, no further action was taken’. But added that cases are never closed and that should any information come to light, the matter will be re-visited.
