New owners of Glovers Walk in Yeovil outline their plans

Nov 11, 2018

The new owners of the Glovers Walk shopping precinct in Yeovil and Yeovil Bus Station have confirmed that the area will be re-developed.

The town centre site - advertised at 3 and a half million pounds - has been bought by the Martin Property Group from Northern Ireland.

It’s understood the new owners are considering building flats above shops and perhaps a hotel.

The company says some existing retail outlets in Middle Street will remain.

The bus station is leased to South Somerset District Council.

The new owners are in talks with the Council about ways to develop the site.

New Yeovil Supermarket

Oct 5, 2018

The go-ahead has been given for Aldi to build a new supermarket on the former Old’s garage site in Sherborne Road, Yeovil.

Despite the application being recommended for rejection, members of South Somerset District Council’s Area South Committee voted to support the plan.

Planning officers had wanted the new Aldi built on the old livestock market site off Reckleford.

South Somerset District Council say a new way to develop the cattle market site will have to be found.
